Say Goodbye to Fiber Optic Limitations! Askey and FET Join Hands to Launch a New 5G FWA Solution

Askey Computer Corp. and FarEasTone Telecom (FET) have introduced a 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) solution that utilizes Askey’s 5G mmWave Outdoor Unit (ODU) connected to mobile base stations. By replacing traditional fiber with wireless transmission, this solution fully leverages the advantages of high bandwidth and low latency, offering a faster and more flexible option for mobile network deployment.

To address temporary network expansion and high-traffic demands, FET has integrated Askey’s 5G mmWave ODU into its mobile base stations. Through 5G FWA technology, networks can be rapidly deployed, making it ideal for large-scale events such as concerts and sports competitions. This ensures stable data bandwidth, meeting the needs of high-load network environments.

For remote areas, aging buildings, or locations where trenching and new fiber deployment are not feasible, Askey’s 5G mmWave ODU provides high-performance and stable wireless broadband transmission. This solution not only reduces infrastructure and installation challenges but also minimizes excavation and maintenance costs. Additionally, it serves as a reliable fiber backup, enhancing network resilience and reliability while offering economic benefits and high flexibility.

As part of FET’s 5G FWA solution, Askey’s 5G NR ODU supports both 5G NR mmWave and Sub-6 bands, as well as LTE Cat.20 for ultra-high-speed transmission. When deployed alongside FET’s mobile base stations, it enables rapid signal coverage expansion, seamless broadcasting, and synchronized live streaming. This solution has already been successfully implemented at major events, including the Taipei 101 New Year’s Eve celebration, the Pingxi, Taoyuan, and Pingtung Lantern Festivals, ensuring stable connectivity and a smooth user experience in high-density environments.
